About the studio — Abilene, TX

We live in the part between record and publish.

Soundwell is a small, owner-led studio. We don’t shoot video, run ads, or sell a course — we take a raw conversation and hand it back sounding like you respect the people listening.

01 The origin

From a spare-room mic to a desk on N 7th.

Soundwell started the way a lot of good shows do — one mic, a pair of monitors, and a stubborn belief that a real conversation deserves to be heard clearly. The recording part was never the hard part. Anyone can hit a red button. The hard part is everything after.

We got tired of hearing thoughtful interviews buried under hum, swinging levels, and a master that fell apart the second someone listened in a car. So we built a studio that does exactly one job — the stretch between “record” and “publish” — and does it the same way every single week.

02 What we stand for

Three rules we don’t break.

  • A.
We quote before we touch a fader

A flat number you approve up front — a per-episode batch or a fixed project price. No meter running while you wait, no surprise tab at the end.

  • B.
Your voice wins, not our taste

We’re not here to stamp a “Soundwell sound” over everyone. The goal is you, clearer — your show, the way it’s meant to feel.

  • C.
    The same sound, every week

One documented chain, one engineer. Episode fifty matches episode one because nothing about the process is left to memory.

The promise

If the first cut misses, fixing it is on us — revisions are in every package.

03 The unglamorous details

The work you’ll never notice — which is the point.

Why it matters

Good production is invisible. A listener should hear the conversation, never the work it took to get there.

A gold waveform glowing on a dark screen

Edits you can’t hear

Cuts placed on the breath, never in the middle of a word. Nothing that announces itself.

Room tone, matched

Trim a section and the silence underneath still sounds like the same room — no gaps, no dead air.

Levels ridden by hand

A guest who leans in and a host who pulls back both land at the same comfortable volume — section by section, not slapped through a limiter.

One chain, written down

Every setting documented, so your show sounds identical batch after batch — never re-guessed from scratch each time.

04 From the desk

A note about how we actually work.

I’d rather be straight with you than sell you. Soundwell is intentionally small — when you hire us, the person who quotes your show is the person who mixes it, and you’ll hear from that same person if something needs a second pass.

We don’t take every project, and we won’t pretend a tight deadline is fine when it isn’t. What we will do is tell you a real number, give you a real turnaround, and make your audio sound like you meant it — episode one or episode two hundred.

If that’s the kind of help your show needs, the door on N 7th is open. So is the inbox.
